Making personal art in a journal is so enjoyable. My art journal is a place to explore mediums and materials, techniques and flavors of artist I admire. This session is dedicated to actually "living in" your personal art journal, handmade or otherwise. Bring it along and together we can explore mixed media techniques and supplies to make stunning spreads.

All supplies are included EXCEPT your journal. Optionally you can work on a piece of mixed media paper we will provide if you have not yet purchased a journal we can direct you to some of our favorites in the shop here on site.

Watercolor is a fun fluid art supply. This workshop allows you to explore this medium without worry over making a recognizable subject matter. That is the beauty of abstract mark making. I call this process doodling with watercolor. The backgrounds we create are stunning and even more so when they get folded, snipped and glued into a stunning mini book. The background turns into a perfect spot to practice hand lettering, drawing, doodling, sketching, poetry, collage or whatever you can dream up.

Sarah Gardner, of Juicy*S Art, is a mixed media artist, teacher, and author of Share Your Joy: Mixed Media Shareable Art. Creating art to share brings her joy; sharing it is sharing that joy, and so is teaching! Play, explore, and experience the joy of creating something you love. Then share your joy with someone else by giving your art away and making their day!

Join us in making a series of Artist Trading Cards - mini, one-of-a-kind mixed media artworks created to share with other artists. We'll make some of our own collage materials and combine them with other collage to create mixed media ATCs. All supplies provided.

    Let's PLAY!
    Try something new.
    Embrace curiosity and possibility.
An “Art Play Date” is a time to play with some art supplies, learn about different media, and create something. As a group, we support and encourage one another, connect around creativity, and just have fun! You will be delighted with what you make!

Class meets 2 days. Saturday & Sunday 10am-4pm each day.

    Register for class here.

In this class we will use shapes, patterns, and colors as a way to explore the surface design possibilities for fabric and paper. Techniques will include fabric painting, stencil printing, use of natural dyes and earth pigments, embroidery and mending stitches, and incorporating paper, words and objects. At the end of our surface design explorations we will gather our pages and make them into books using structures that work well with fabric including side-sewn, accordion, and pamphlet books. The result will be hand stitched sampler books that are rich and layered, and will reflect your own hand and mark making style. These can be referred to when moving forward with your future book, paper, and textile adventures.
